The bridge has a central span of over 3300 feet, between it's main two towers. The side spans, which carry the deck to the side towers, are each 1340 ft long and are flanked by approach viaducts.
The supporting cables which are anchored into the rock, are 2 ft in diameter.
It's main towers are 512 ft above the river level. The clearance for shipping beneath the bridge is 150 ft close to the towers and 163 ft at mid-span.
The dual carriageway on the bridge are flanked by two cycle paths and two footpaths. Who would want to walk or cycle the bridge when it's windy?
The bridge has been constructed of some 39,000 tons of steel and 150,000 cubic yards of concrete.
Total cost of the project was £19,500,000 - this includes the dual carriageway, minor access roads and 24 minor bridges.
