I suppose the travel bug started when my parents invested in vehicle way back in the early 60's. Then most weekends, mum, dad and the 4 children where off - Blackpool, Southport, Yorkshire Dales, Wales. At the time this was a long way to go, not many motorways existed.

The first motorway - M6 or Preston by-pass had only just opened, and there was not much traffic on it, unlike today.

Those early days out and holidays with my parents and sisters always bring a smile back to my face when I start to remember where we went and what we got up to - Don't forget this was about 1960 / 61 when I would be 10!

And then it started... This travel bug grew and grew and with my first foreign holiday with Paul Robert's to Austria was back in 1970.

We flew out from Manchester to Basle; the aircraft was a Comet, then on a coach through Switzerland into Austria to a village called Egg.
Yes Egg.

Lovely village, even had it's own brewery, and for two 18 year olds - Heaven. Trying different foods was new to both of us, not the traditional Lancashire cooking we where used to, but garlic hams, smoked cheese, sauerkraut and schnitzel.

That was it - I had to travel and get to see the world.

Future Holidays

As time rolls on we are looking for that holiday destination that has a mixture of relaxation and excitement.
